Donations

FSJPL is a library association which means we do not receive direct taxation support and instead rely upon grants, fundraising and donations to continue serving the families and individuals of our community.

There are many ways to help support FSJPLA; choose the option that makes the most sense for you from a personal, financial, tax and impact point of view.

Donate Through Online Purchases

If you shop online, you could be supporting your local library with every purchase – at no added cost to you!

Simply create an account at ShopandShare.ca, select FSJPL as your preferred charity, and then shop for things you normally purchase at hundreds of big name online retailers (Amazon, Dell, Expedia, Old Navy and so many others).  These retailers will donate a portion of your total purchase to FSJPL, without any increased cost to you.

*Just remember, shopping sites must be accessed through the ShopandShare.ca  site in order for the donations to accrue.

Donate Now

Donors like you help make FSJPL great. Your donation will help fund innovative programs and services, as well as robust book collections.

  • CanadaHelps.org – secure credit card, Paypal, gift card or Interact donations may be made through CanadaHelps.
  • Jeffy – secure credit card donations may be made through Jeffy.

Donate Monthly

Become a monthly donor by selecting the day and month of your first donation, then set the period of time you would like to contribute monthly.
It’s a great way to support your Library with manageable monthly gifts. Secure credit card, Paypal, gift card or Interact donations may be made through CanadaHelps.org.

Give in Honour or Memory

Celebrate or remember someone special with a donation to the Library.

A donation made in one’s name is a heartfelt way to celebrate an occasion or remember someone special. Secure credit card, Paypal, gift card or Interact donations may be made through CanadaHelps.org.

Donate Securities

A donation of securities or mutual fund shares is one of the most tax efficient ways to give charitably since the capital gains tax does not apply and the donor benefits from a larger charitable tax receipt. Speak to your legal and tax advisors to find out how to support FSJPL through the donation of securities.

Will or Living Trust

Naming FSJPL as a beneficiary in your will or living trust is a simple way to make a planned gift to your Library. You can designate a specific amount of money, or a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate after all other bequests have been paid. Your estate will receive a tax receipt that will help offset taxes. We suggest the following wording*:

“My estate trustees shall pay [$ fixed amount or percentage] (or transfer assets with an equal value) to the Fort St John Public Library Association to be used solely and exclusively for the benefit of the Library, as determined by the Library Association Board. These funds should be used to enhance rather than replace municipal, regional, provincial or federal funds budgeted for Library services.”

*This clause is provided to aid in your estate planning process with an understanding that the Fort St John Public Library Association is not providing legal or other professional advice. Please review it with your own legal and tax advisors to determine its suitability for your personal financial and tax situation.
